Buying Real Estate in Antigua
Buying real estate on the island of Antigua is a fairly straight forward process. Antigua’s real estate laws are designed in such a way as to encourage foreign investment as well as protecting them after they purchase.
As with any real estate transaction you will need to retain the services of a lawyer that will act on our behalf. JHR has a number of well qualified and efficient lawyers that are waiting to assist you with your purchase.
- Legal Fees
A lawyer will generally charge 1% to 2% depending on the purchase price.
- Stamp Duty
You will be required to pay 2.5% stamp duty to complete the purchase.
- Non-Citizens License
A non-Antiguan purchasing real estate in Antigua will need to apply for a non-citizens license. This will amount to 5% of the purchase price. A non-citizens license can take up to four months to be granted depending on your legal representation and the speed of the application process.
By purchasing through JHR you’ll have a team of young professionals scouring the coastlines and hilltops of the beautiful island in search of the perfect Caribbean retreat. The JHR team will be with you every step of the way.
