GANDHI YOUTH ORG COLLECTS GY$130,000 FROM GUYANA WIN
Friday 21st October 2011

Georgetown, Guyana – The Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) will receive GY$130,000 (US$650) from the West Indies Cricket Board following Guyana’s thumping Regional Super50 opening round win against Windward Islands.

GYO has been paired with Guyana to benefit from the WICB Super Club Assistance Programme which has been launched in the Super50 Tournament.

For every victory registered by a team in the tournament, that team’s partner club will receive GY$100,000 (US$500). For every six hit by a player on a team that team’s partner club will receive GY$10,000 (US$50). And for every wicket taken via the ‘bowled’ route by a player the partner club of that player’s team will claim GY$10,000 (US$50).

In addition to the GY$100,000 for Guyana’s win, GYO has earned another GY$20,000 (US$100) for two sixes hit by Guyanese batsmen Travis Dowlin and Christopher Barnwell as the Guyanese won by 120 runs after making 192 all out at the Guyana National Stadium.

All rounder Steven Jacobs added another GY$10,000 to GYO’s pot when he bowled West Indies spinner Garey Mathurin.

Windwards pacer Nelon Pascal bowled Barnwell with the final delivery of the Guyanese innings so Blairmont Community Centre (Windwards partner club) will pocket GY$10,000.

The Barbados v Sagicor HPC match at Everest was abandon so neither of their partner clubs (Bay Rock Sports Club and Enterprise Cricket Club) will pick up the GY$100,000.

Sagicor HPC all rounder Jason Holder did smash a six to ensure that Enterprise Cricket Club open their account with GY$10,000.
