DIGICEL CONTINUES TO DEVELOP CARIBBEAN SPORTS

St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda – Wednesday, May 11, 2016: As part of its commitment to developing sports in the Caribbean, Digicel is one of the main sponsors of the Cool & Smooth T20 cricket tournament where 10 teams will vie for the coveted trophy and total cash prizes of EC$40,000.

Captain of the defending champions, PIC Insurance Liberta Black Hawks, Hayden Walsh Jr, is psyched and ready for all challengers. He said; “This team is ready and prepared to defend our title. We have a powerful batting line-up to go with our awesome bowling attack. I can’t wait for the tournament to start – it will be great!”

Representatives of the title sponsors, Cool & Smooth, said this will be one of the most electrifying events to be held in Antigua and Barbuda. “We are thrilled to set a platform for some of the best cricket talents in the Caribbean to showcase their talents. All the revenue from this event will go directly into developing cricket in Antigua and Barbuda,” said Amer Hourani, Managing Director for Cool & Smooth.

Digicel Antigua and Barbuda CEO, Janice Sutherland, said; “We are focused on developing sports not only in Antigua and Barbuda, but in the region. This is our second year sponsoring the event – last year’s event exceeded expectations and I believe this year’s will do the same.”

The tournament will be held at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium from May 17th to June 5th. Digicel customers can look out for prizes and surprises via its social media platforms.
