DIGICEL SUPPORTS CREATIVITY IN ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
Tuesday 16th September 2014

Digicel has announced its support of the Quickfire Graphic Design competition as it looks to give young people an opportunity to develop their creative talents.

The 4-week competition will feature participants from three age groups: 12 to 15, 16 to 19 and 20 and over. The winner in the 12 to 15 category will win a Fujifilm FinePix S8200 16.2 MP Digital Camera Bundle, and the winner for the 16 to 19 category will receive a Lenovo Idea Pad 15.6” Touchscreen Laptop plus a Wacom Bamboo Create Graphics Tablet. The winner in the 20 and over category will receive an all-in-one workstation plus a Wacom Bamboo Capture Graphics Tablet.

Sonalli Andrews, creator of the Quickfire Graphic Design competition, said he was inspired to re-ignite competitions for creative minds because he wants young people to have an outlet to channel their talent as he had when he was younger.

“This competition aims to nurture creativity and innovation with a focus on the field of graphic design and ultimately reward talented individuals so that they can continue to hone their skills,” he said.

Digicel Antigua and Barbuda Marketing Manager Patrice Christian-Simon said, “We believe in supporting activities that inspire creativity among young people and that give them an avenue to express themselves. We are happy to support Sonalli and his efforts to nurture the creativity that is found in our beautiful country of Antigua and Barbuda.”

Registration begins on September 15th and interested designers will be able to collect forms from Island Photos at its Redcliffe Street and Village Walk locations and the Digicel store on Redcliffe Street. It can also be downloaded from the contest’s official website at www.quickfiredesign.wix.com/quickfiredesign.

Electronically submitted designs will be automatically entered to win the Facebook Viewer’s Choice award where fans will vote for their favourite design. The winner of this voting will receive an Asus Google Nexus 7 Android Tablet. All the winning designs will be featured on Digicel Antigua and Barbuda’s Facebook page and the Quickfire Graphic Design Contest website during the judging period, scheduled for October 15-24.

Shelana George, Digicel Social Media Executive; Sonalli Andrews, CEO of Quickfire Graphic Design Contest, and Patrice Simon, Digicel Marketing Manager gather to discuss the design competition.
