Monday 30th September 2013 – St. John’s, Antigua: Digicel will introduce new roaming rates effective October 1st for all Digicel customers which will give them savings of up to 80% in some cases, when they travel to the Caribbean or USA. These new rates will allow them to browse, call or send text messages when abroad as if they were home.

The historic new roaming rates, will be available to all customers for free when they are visiting other Digicel countries in the Caribbean (with the exception of Guyana) and for a small subscription fee when visiting the USA.

For example, postpaid customers roaming in the US, and calling back to Antigua & Barbuda and the Caribbean will see up to 80% savings as the new per minute rate is now EC$0.69 during peak time versus EC$3.48. Text messages will incur a minimal cost of only EC$0.25 cents versus the old rate of EC$0.78 cents which is now a remarkable 68% savings for the customer.

Data users can avail of a whopping 98% in savings as the rate per kilobyte of data is now only EC$0.30 cents from EC$16.17 per kilobyte.

There will be no charges for incoming calls while roaming.

Since the liberalization of international calls in the Antigua & Barbuda market, Digicel has since consistently delivered on its promises to offer stunning international & regional packages never seen before in this market. However, today’s announcement is another step in that “first to introduce” direction that Digicel can boast as they’ve been able to reduce the roaming rates significantly, thus allowing customers to save more on browsing, calls and text messages when roaming.

The cost for subscribing to the new roaming rates while travelling in the USA will be EC$100 per month for postpaid customers and EC$27 per week for prepaid customers. Subscribers can sign up for as small a period as one week or one month to ensure maximum savings.
