PARES CIRCUIT RACE RESULTS

Jyme Bridges won his 2nd consecutive race on Sunday when the Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Association hosted the Pares Circuit Race. Over 42 riders started in 6 categories to complete a maximum of 8 laps of the 7.5 mile course. However, Jyme Bridges made up his mind that will was not spending much time with the group by making a solo move to separate himself and establish a solid in the 4th lap. But Robert Marsh couldn’t let his chance of winning go unchallenged; Marsh surged to bridge the gap taking Neil Lloyd with him to catch Jyme. The 3 led the race for several miles but the pressure of the Marsh and Jyme was too much for FDICIC sponsored rider, Neil Lloyd who had to let go the lead and re-join the peleton. Marsh and Bridges stayed together to the final lap when Bridges attacked the island’s top Sportsman to win solo, to capture his second consecutive win. Jyme Bridges of Rattlers Club won the Pares 60 mile Circuit race in a time of 2:41.50 ahead of Robert Marsh of Club Savoy who placed 2nd in a time of 2:42.06. Clint Henry of the Rattlers Club was the best in the group sprint to easily cross the line ahead of the field to place 3rd clocking a time of 2:44.43. Randy Simon of Team Terminex and Cosmos Richardson of Rattlers was 4th and 5th respectively of the 20 A-Class starters.

Junior category rider, Tasheed Gordon rode on to contest the B-Class to out sprint Tamiko Butler to win the 7 laps B-Class. The young Rattler won the B-Class in a time of 2:22.17 ahead for the country’s top Sportswoman, Tamiko Butler who was 2nd in a time of 2:22.18. Ashley Rhodes was 3rd after suffering a fall that affected his lead but manage to complete his race in a time of 2:28.38. Mervin Massive Gore and Ashfield Vigo were 4th and 5th respectively.

Tesheed Gordon easily won the Junior-Class, completing the 5 lap course in a time of 1:39.49 ahead of Cadet Class, Joel Phillip who placed 2nd in a time 1:43.56. Colin James placed 3rd in a time of 1:43.57 whilst last race winner, Jaleel Cannonier placed 4th in a time 1:55.52. Joel Phillip easily won the Cadet-Class to complete 3 lap Course in a time of 1:00.25 ahead of his cousin Nigel Fabian in a time of 1:09.29.

Lindsay Duffy of the Road Runners Club won the 5 lap Female event ahead of her fellow club captain, Kevinia Francis. Duffy Completed the course in a time of 2:08.43 whilst Francis clock a time of 2:20.58.

Sport-Class was won by Zaclye Joseph who completed the 2 lap course in a time of 57:27. 2nd place went to Ayeisha Solomon in a time of 1:06.00 ahead of Javid Frith who clocked a time of 1:06.40.

Team Terminex will host the next schedule event on May 13th, the Folly Hill Road Race. The Terminix  Folly Road Race will take the riders to the Northern part of the island then to the eastern part of the island then to take on the challenge of the day, Folly Hill. The race will start and finish at the Police Recreation Grounds and is expected to start at 9am.
