The Winning Piece in Art At The Ridge’s 2nd Juried Art Competition was unveiled to the public at their art exhibition preview evening on Friday 25 January 2013 at Sugar Club. The piece is called ‘Strength Through Pain’ and is by 19-year-old X-Saphair King. This 22” x 28” painting is in acrylic on canvas and portrays a powerful image.

X-Saphair recently graduated from Antigua State College where he studied art under the tutelage of well-known Antiguan artist Mark Brown.

X-Saphair wins Dinner For Two at Carmichael’s Restaurant at Sugar Ridge. He will be promoted by Art At The Ridge and is already scheduled for a solo art exhibition at Sugar Club early next year. X-Saphair is keen to further his studies in art and is planning to do this at the Community College in Barbados, where Mark Brown himself also trained. He is hoping that his artwork and exhibition next year will help to fund this education. Art At The Ridge will also be making a starting donation towards this cause.

X-Saphair’s artwork can currently be viewed at Art At The Ridge’s shop gallery at Sugar Ridge Village.
