ANTIGUA'S JYME BRIDGES CROWNED 2010 OECS CYCLING CHAMPION
Monday 7th June 2010

Join me in congratulating Jyme Bridges, Robert Marsh and the rest of the Antigua and Barbuda's National Cycling team who dominated and won 1-2 at the 2010 Digicel OECS Cycling Championships, held in Grenada, Sunday 6th June 2010.

Jyme Bridges won the 61-mile race on a course that was disputed by the other cycling countries as an extreme course based on the height and amount of climbs and descents, which was deemed as a course designed specially to favor the home country.

Jyme Bridges - 2010 OECS Champion

However, the course seems as if it was set in favor for the Antiguans as Jyme Bridges's only competition came from his team mate, Robert Marsh. Bridges won the OECS title as the 1st person to reach to the top of Grenada, (which is 1910 feet above sea level, at the island's highest peak, Grand Etang) in a time of 3:22.20.

Robert Marsh - 2nd OECS Champion

Over 4 minutes of his closest rival, Robert Marsh who rode home to the 2nd victorious spot in a time of 3:27.50, over 3 minutes of his closest rival, race favorite, Sydney Walters of Grenada who clocked in 3:31.21. Orano Andrews of St. Vincent was 4th in a time of 3:37.14 with the reigning OECS Champion, USA based, Sydney Charles of St. Lucia placing 5th in a time of 3:40.25.

The other Antiguans, Omari King placing 12th in a time of 3:53.02 and Cosmos Richardson placing 19th in a time of 4:10.03.

2010 OECS National Cycling Team - Antigua

Countries represented at the Digicel 2010 OECS Cycling Championships are Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, Tortola, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and host country Grenada. Bridges and Marsh will have their chance to defend their title in their home country.

Antigua will be the host of 2011 OECS Cycling Championships.
