ATHLETES EXPERIENCE AT YOUTH OLYMPICS BREATH-TAKING
Monday 6th September 2010

The experience at the 1st Youth Olympics in Singapore, August 2010, was a breath-taking one. This is the view of Wings Track Athletes, Jalil Salmon and Tahir Walsh.
According to quarter miler, Jalil Salmon, the fact that I was chosen to be a part of the Antigua/Barbuda contingent left me in a sense of shock and with much anticipation.

The Youth Olympic Games gave the two athletes the opportunity to interact with athletes of similar age and of many different cultures which they hope will result in long lasting friendships.

These games remind me that, there is no word such as CAN’T, as well as, whatever you put in determines what you’ll receive,I explained Salmon.

The athletes noted the professionalism of the organization of the Youth Olympics and also the warmth and friendship of the people of Singapore.
The athletes admitted that the experience and exposure gained, not only on the track, but also the privilege of learning rock climb-ing and building of a raft which they also sailed on, will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Both athletes plan to gain athletic scholarships to spark off a career in Track & Field and qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London.
Jalil and Tahir would like to take the opportunity to thank the Antigua/Barbuda Olympic Association for granting them the opportunity of a lifetime and congratulate the organizers of the Youth Olympics for a very successful Event.
