WARRIORS QUALIFY FOR SEMIS, GUYDADLI STAY IN THE HUNT
Thursday 26th August 2010

Hosts Young Warriors moved into the semi-finals after a 1-0 win over Villa Lions in the sixth annual Warriors Cup sponsored by sponsored by Harney Motors, Cool & Smooth, APUA PCS INET, Snickers and M&M.

The lone goal, netted by substitute Devaughn Thomas with five minutes remaining, was awarded after the Villa players protested that another Warriors’ play who they contended was in an offside position attempted to score before the ball crossed the line at YASCO on Wednesday.
However, the referee and his assistant ruled that goal was legitimate notwithstanding the protestations of the Villa players.

The win meant Warriors finished Group A on seven points from three matches while Villa and Greenbay Hoppers will contest the last group match on Thursday to determine the other semi-finalist. Hoppers have four points while Villa have three.
Guydadli retained their remote hope of making it to the last four with a 3-0 win over 5Ps who finished bottom of Group B without any points. Bryan Ocho struck twice and Kevin Stewart the other goal.

Guydadli ended with four points like Bullets who will play group leaders Goldsmitty on Sunday at 6pm to determine the other semi-finalists.
In the Under 17 age-group, Richardo Lindsay and Eugene Kirwan netted the goals to help Empire to a 2-0 win over 5Ps as the Gray’s Farm side moved onto six points like leaders Young Warriors who have played a game less that Empire’s three.
