Tuesday 28th August 2012

(Choc Bay, August 22nd, 2012) - Over one hundred and twenty of the region’s elite under-15 cricketers are currently benefiting from the teaming-up of two Caribbean household beverage brands. Lucozade and Bluewaters have decided to come out and bat for the resuscitation of West indies Cricket. The two brands are the sponsors of the current Sandals Foundation and WICB High performance camp in collaboration with the Governments of St. Lucia and Antigua.
According to Deborah Lang, General Manager of Express Distributors Limited, agents for Blue waters in St. Lucia, her company is very keen to support initiatives geared at developing the young people of the Caribbean. “Blue Waters is pleased to be associated with the Sandals Foundation/WICB High Performance Camp, which is adding priceless value to the lives of our young cricketers throughout the Caribbean Region. Blue Waters is a Caribbean Company and we take great pride in supporting the development of Sports here in St. Lucia, and the Caribbean,” added Lang.

Her comments are echoed by Margot Mason, Marketing Manager of Frank B. Armstrong Antigua, who views the role of the local private sector as critical to the rebuilding process of the game. She continued “We view this two week High Performance Development Camp as critical to the growth and development of West Indies cricket by training our youth in various aspects of the game, on and off the field. We trust that the elite youth cricketers will find the camp a valuable experience and take advantage of the knowledge shared by their cricketing mentors.”
Lucozade Sport plays a valued role in the active lifestyles of hundreds of thousands of people and its St. Lucian agent Brydens and partners explains its association with the camp is trying to fulfill its corporate social responsibility. Darwin Reece Lucozade’s Brand Manager in St. Lucia says that his company is humbled by the accomplishments of the camp.

“We are proud of what our partnership with the cricket camp over the last two years has been able to achieve for the development of the sport. My understanding is that a number of last year’s participants are now graduated to a higher level and are doing outstandingly in their first year of under-19 cricket,” explains Reece.

It’s Lucozade’s second year of providing drinks for the camp in St. Lucia and first time energizing the students in the Antigua league of the development clinic. Bluewaters meanwhile makes its debut in exciting style by providing dehydration fluids for the St. Lucia league of the camp.
