Sandals Grande Antigua’s Sports and Social Club enjoy the moment at Rock and Road 2012.

Dozens of participants gathered at Sandals Grande Antigua on June 10th to participate in their Sports and Social Club’s first ever Rock and Road Relay.

Individuals were required to run 1.5K each on a scenic route that included the challenging Halcyon hill. Fourteen teams took to the road as Sandals Grande Antigua’s employees battled it out for Rock and Road supremacy.
 

In the male category, the Kitchen Department came out victorious thanks to the wizadry of Jason Richards, Anthony Swaby, Dwayne Harrison and a barefooted Valentino Robinson. 
The Watersports Department was second with Keran Campbell, Adrian Merrick, Kemar Thomas and Josie Pienido. 
The Butler Department finished third with Julian Fredericks, N’Kosi Hunte, Dave Carr and Tyril Joseph. The interns brought home the gold in the female category with a team comprising of Valentina Idelmi, Esther Gentili, Roxana Dengel and Katharina Schwoe. 
The Bar Department’s Ashell Samuel, Sianna Price, Kizumi Herbert and Teandra Moore finished in second place while Entertainment’s Oneika Ramsay, Roxanne Roberts, Kayla Lay and Teresiann Payne rounded off the top three.

“This was a thrilling event and a great way for Sandals Grande Antigua’s employees to socialize in the spirit of comraderie and sport,” said an ecstatic Sports and Social Club President, Andrew Belgrave.
 

Spectators turned up in large numbers to witness the exciting event, which culminated in an awards ceremony and light refreshments. A special thank you goes out to the diamond sponsor Colombian Emeralds, the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross and the Antigua and Barbuda Royal Police Force. Without their support, the event would not have been a success.
