SANDALS SPRING REUNION WEEK: A MAJOR HIT!
Thursday 19th April 2012
The Vitas Troupe entertains Reunion Week guests at Sandals Grande Antigua during the El Dorado Zinc Party.

Over 1,500 returning guests headed to 14 Sandals Resorts across the Caribbean to celebrate the luxury-included resort chain’s 19th Annual Reunion Week.

As a part of Sandals’ returning guests rewards programme, the Sandals Reunion Week 2012 held April 9 – 13 boasted welcome-home cocktail receptions and nightly themed parties, off-resort excursions, gala dinners and complimentary vow renewal ceremonies designed to thank the company’s remarkable 40 per cent return guest clientele. The returnees, known as Sandals Select Rewards Guests (SSGs), also participated in specially arranged Sandals Foundation outreach activities in Antigua, the Bahamas, Saint Lucia and Jamaica.

“Returning guests are an integral part of the Sandals business and the Sandals Select Rewards programme gives us the perfect vehicle to recognize and thank these guests directly for their continued support,” says Melissa von Frankenberg, Sandals’ senior manager for loyalty programmes. Other rewards for the SSGs included welcome gift bags, a double rewards points exclusive offer and prizes, including complimentary stays towards future travel.

Pat and Ramona Vigeron, multi-repeat guests celebrated the week-long event at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa and marveled at the extent of the activities. "We had an amazing time. From the spectacular tours of the island to the very informative cooking class, we were able to relax and celebrate in grand style,” they said.  “We genuinely appreciate the lengths that Sandals has gone to in order to make us feel special.”

As part of the annual reunion week festivities, guests joined the Sandals Foundation Fit Club for a fabulous 90 minute hike in the picturesque English Harbour. Led by world renowned Antiguan anthropologist Dr. Reginald Murphy, they were treated to a tour of Nelson's Dockyard as they made their way through the challenging trail. Returning guest Michel Doucet enjoyed the experience thoroughly. “It was incredible to be given the opportunity to see this beautiful island and explore the great outdoors. It was especially gratifying to know that we were contributing to a worthy cause that will help to improve the lives of youth in Antigua and Barbuda,” commented Doucet. All proceeds raised from the event will go towards building a multi-purpose court for the Antigua Girls High School.

According to Sandals Grande Antigua’s General Manager Gerald Christ, this year’s activities were upgraded to provide a fresh and exciting itinerary in line with the exciting renovations and enhancements that have taken place across the resorts over the last year. “The inclusion of a boat excursion to Prickly Pear Island and an authentic El Dorado Zinc Shack party, which had an old school 80’s vibe, were testament to the originality of this very special week that enables us to connect with our valued guests in a memorable way,” commented Christ. More than 130 returning guests participated in this year’s reunion week at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa.
