The Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI) Invites applications for scholarships available at the Institute for the coming school year.
The Selwyn James Scholarship is for the Associate Degree in Applied Science: Culinary Arts. Devised to honour its benefactor, the scholarship is available to any national of Antigua & Barbuda who demonstrates a strong desire to excel in the Culinary Arts. This scholarship, which is the first Yachting Hall of Fame Scholarship, aims to advance the human resource capacity in the Yachting sector.
The Scholarship includes*:
• All tuition fees for two years
• E-book subscription costs for the duration of study
• Insurance premium for both years
• Mentorship from the Scholarship Benefactor
• Internship within the Yachting sector
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be between the ages of 18 and 25 years
• Not be of any relation to the scholarship benefactor
• Show strong financial need
• Have knowledge of and/or strong desire to work in the Yachting sector
• Have a proven sound academic background
• Must maintain a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0)
• Demonstrate intent for further education
The scholarship is valid for two years beginning in September 2014. Application forms are available from the Office of the Registrar, ABHTI and must be submitted alongside the ABHTI application package. The deadline for receipt of applications is August 1, 2014.

Muriel O'Mard Scholarships
The two Muriel O’Mard Scholarships are given in honour of the contributions of former ABHTI Director Muriel O’Mard.
Miss O’Mard served as Director of the Hotel Training Centre, renamed, the Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI) for over 25 years. Her interest in tourism development, education and training over the years are a true testament of her accomplishments and legacy.
