US REALITY SHOW FILMED IN ANTIGUA
Monday 29th July 2013

With approximately eight million viewers world-wide tuning in, the island of Antigua will take centre stage as the romantic backdrop for the ABC Television primetime reality series, The Bachelorette.

Antigua & Barbuda, ‘The Romance Capital of the Caribbean’ was chosen from among other Caribbean destinations as the perfect location for the upcoming season finale episodes of the hit TV show, the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority.

“Antigua & Barbuda is proud to be showcased on US national television during this ABC broadcast of The Bachelorette”, Minister of Tourism & Civil Aviation, John Maginley was quoted as having said.
“I am pleased and proud to invite all Antiguans & Barbudans to tune in as our beautiful islands make an international debut during the … broadcast of the hit primetime reality series.”

The two-part finale episode is to feature the beautiful and exotic scenery of the twin islands coupled with the romance and style of St James’s Club & Villas, The Verandah Resort & Spa and Galley Bay Resort & Spa.

“Antigua & Barbuda will be showcased as the idyllic setting for the remaining suitors and bachelorette, Desiree Hartsock,” the release noted. “Will Desiree find the man of her dreams? Will he propose? Will she accept? The two-part season finale episode is scheduled to begin Monday, July 29, at 8/7c on ABC, and don’t miss the live three-hour finale Monday, August 5, at 8/7c on ABC.”

CEO of the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority Colin C James said the programme, with its appeal to millions of viewers in North America, provides Antigua & Barbuda with an excellent opportunity to showcase the beauty of our islands.

“The four hours of prime time television exposure that Antigua & Barbuda will receive is an unparalleled PR opportunity for our destination,”
James said.

“This opportunity will yield significant brand awareness for Antigua & Barbuda, which will translate into a significant spike in our visitor arrivals for the upcoming winter season.”

This season on The Bachelorette, Desiree, 27, an operations manager and stylist at a bridal salon, who previously charmed America’s favourite bachelor, Sean Lowe, meets 25 potential soul mates and gets another shot at love as the bachelorette.
