MEGA-FAM CAMPAIGN FOR AGENTS LAUNCHED IN THE UK

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority’s UK office has partnered with Elite Island Resorts and British Airways on the “Antigua 365 Mega fam” one of the biggest familiarisation trips scheduled to come out from the UK for 2013.
 
Minister of Tourism John Maginley said “We are delighted to be supporting this travel agent activity that will actively grow business to Antigua from the UK Market . The UK tourism market is a very important market to us, and we are committed to ensuring that Antigua and Barbuda is kept top-of mind amongst our trade partners and that they receive the support necessary to produce results.”  
 
The “Antigua 365 Mega fam”, is a new initiative introduced to promote Antigua and Barbuda amongst members of the UK travel trade.
 
UK Director of Tourism Hilary Modeste said,  “The Antigua 365 Mega Fam campaign will work two-fold, pushing business to the destination as a travel agent booking incentive, and allowing agents who successfully reach their quota, to improve their knowledge of Antigua and Barbuda by experiencing the country and its hotel product first-hand.”
 
The campaign which begun in September, will run for eight months encouraging agents to amass as many Antigua bookings as possible.  Travel agents who make over three bookings to the destination, will qualify for a place on the familiarisation trip. 
 
Fifty successful agents will be flown out to the destination in May 2013. British Airways and Elite Island Resorts (Antigua) have committed to being the exclusive flight and accommodation partners, respectively for the six day mega fam.
 
The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, will showcase the destination to the agents  who will conduct hotel site inspections, engage in training sessions with tourism service providers, and explore exciting attractions and excursions, when they visit.
 

The Antigua and Barbuda UK Tourist Office continues to promote Antigua and Barbuda as a premier holiday destination, with 2012 tour operator marketing campaigns and radio advertising planned for the winter booking period.

 Travel Agents visited Galley Bay in 2011 during a familiarisation trip to Antigua.
