The Home Coming Fashion Showcase, is in its 4th year with this year pushing the envelope to include the mandate branding Caribbean Style and presenting it to the world.
It has become of necessity to embark upon a diversification drive in face of economic challenges in today’s world. The Ministry of Culture under the Honorable Eleston “Namba” Adams has provided unstinting support in the thurst to promote the creative industries by focusing positively on the Independence Homecoming celebrations.
Vanda Neale Gardener, the chairperson of the Homecoming Fashion Show is enthusiastic and excited about the presentation this year. She has engaged expert fashion director Richard Young, the creative force of both Guyana Fashion Week and Fashion Week Trinidad and Tobago to style the showcase. The models have been undergoing vigorous training under Mr. Young’s stewardship for the last two weeks to realise a professional theoretical showcase. The proactive committee members Bernard Francis, Brian Gardner, Terri-Anne “T- Rocka” Richardson, Sharon Herbert, Ashley D. Edwards, Rickenson “Jeffery” Ettienne and Althea Richardson-Walter are steadfast in their support of this event which prefaces other fashion related productions to come. Mrs. Neale – Gardener has been cultivating a fraternity of creative/cultural fashion talent in an effort to propel/inaugurate a fashion industry with its antecedent job creating, youth empowering and culture-sensitive activities
