THE BIG BOYS FIGHT IT OUT
Organised by the Superyacht Cup team from Palma, Mallorca the Antigua event runs for 4 days with racing on 3 days and a full programme of social activities for everyone. The beautiful setting of Nelson's Dockyard is the perfect place to center the social activities and moor up all the yachts together and it provides the perfect environment for enjoying the Caribbean hospitality and the famous Superyacht Cup parties.
For the racing the 'Bucket Rating' system (which is used at the popular St Barth's Bucket and Newport Bucket events) ensures close and exciting racing, and with ideal trade wind conditions and crystal blue Caribbean water what could be a better
As Paul Deeth, Chairman of ACYM (Antigua Charter Meeting) comments:
“I am delighted that we will have a Superyacht Cup event in Antigua... The Superyacht Cup in Palma is always a fantastic way to end the Mediterranean season and now we have the same event in Antigua to start the Caribbean season – we look forward to a great event”
The Superyacht Cup Antigua will adopt the same ‘pursuit race’ format as The Superyacht Cup in Palma. Yachts are allocated start times on the first day of the event, the start times are then adjusted on the second and third day based on the finishing times of each yacht the previous day. Points are accumulated per day with a point’s multiplier on the last day to keep the final positions as open as possible.
