HELP 19YR OLD CANCER PATIENT CHRISTMAS WISH COME TRUE! Friday 23rd December 2011
If cancer treatment does not kill the cancer cells, remission cannot be achieved and the patient continues to live with the life-threatening disease, knowing that it may eventually be the cause of her death. Once all medication innovation has been exhausted and remission has not been achieved, the patient is told that the cancer is longer treatable and that they will die from cancer.
"I will never get rid of cancer, but I still have hopes and dreams. I will stay positive, but the truth is I will never get rid of cancer, it will get rid of me." said Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is 19 years old and has been diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma, a very cancer that originates in the nasopharynx, the uppermost region of the pharynx (throat) behind the nose where the nasal passages and auditory tubes join the remainder of the upper respiratory tract. A condition she has battled with courage and strength.
Destination Dream-Markers...created in 2006, has continued to mature and remain steadfast to the children in the past, present and the future with terminal cancer and their families by creating lasting memories. It is with deep sadness and a sincere pleasure however, to introduce Elizabeth. Her requests are simple...she is lonely (confined to the bed) and she wants a dog. As she puts it, "someone to talk to." The dog should be a small one that is house trained and full of love and easy to adjust to the small household (mother and daughter). She wants a little color in her room, we have the paint but we need volunteers to assist with the painting. Small cheerful items lamps, curtains, rug, bedspread, new pillows, and a recliner (not the big heavy kind-just a comfortable chair) so that she could sit up or outside from time to time. What girl wouldn't like to look nice? How about some soft, light gowns or light weight pajamas? (All small sizes)
