DESTINATION DREAM MAKERS - CHRISTMAS WISHES DO COME TRUE IN ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
Thursday 31st December 2009

Christmas is a time for caring and for sharing with others but so often we are too busy to make or find the time.  Luckily however there are people like Carolyn Aziz from Why Me?, Calvin Francis from Chefs2UEvents Ltd and Richie Richardson who do take the time to care and to share.

A few weeks ago Carolyn was asking for help to bring some Christmas joy to 11 year old Alpha who is suffering from Cancer.  She sent out a request for help with their Destination Dream Makers programme that would melt even the hardest of hearts and it certainly hit the right cord with former WI Captain Richie Richardson and Calvin Francis, owner and Chef of Chefs2UEvents Ltd who stepped and added two very special sparkles to the family’s Christmas.

Chefs2UEvents Ltd said they would like to provide Christmas lunch for the family and the feast that was delivered on Christmas Eve was amazing – a whole roast turkey and a ham so big they had to be carried individually plus 5 huge containers with all the trimmings imaginably  and that wasn’t all, there was even a decorated Christmas Cake for Alpha and his family to enjoy plus a cheque for $1,000EC.  Carolyn was overcome with emotion when helping Calvin’s sister Ideen Matthias who works at Chefs2U Events  load the goodies at Mount St John kitchen where Calvin runs the Cafeteria.  ‘People’s generosity and kindness never cease to amaze me’ said Carolyn, ‘when you send out requests for assistance, you hope and pray that someone will find it in their hearts to help but you never know what you will get and the Christmas Fare provided by Calvin and his team will really make this Christmas so special for the whole family.’

Alpha loves speed and fast cars so when Richie Richardson was asked if he would take Alpha for a spin in his silver 7 series BWM he readily agreed.  Boxing Day morning Richie arrived to take Alpha and his Dad out for a drive of a lifetime and Alpha had brilliant fun being chauffeured around the island by the former West Indies Captain – especially on the long straight parts of the road by the stadium!!  Alpha’s Dad had equal fun as he admitted that it was when Richie was Captain that he started watching cricket again, so they swapped a few stories about cricket over the years on the drive.

If you would like to be part of Destination Dream Makers programme, please contact Carolyn Aziz on whymeoutmail@yahoo.com at any time of the year as the programme is ongoing and help is always needed.
