2015 ANTIGUA CLASSIC YACHT REGATTATuesday 31st March 2015
The 28th Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta will take place April 15-21, 2015. We are proud to host between 50 and 60 yachts every year with a wonderful variety of competitors, including traditional island craft, classic ketches, sloops, schooners and yawls together with the stunningly beautiful Spirit of Tradition yachts, J Class and Tall Ships. Together, these make a wonderful sailing spectacle in the ideal trade wind sailing conditions of the Caribbean. The sailing combined with Antiguan hospitality, plenty of rum, sunshine and camaraderie in a friendly relaxed atmosphere make Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta a favourite in the yachting calendar.
This year we welcome many entries of over 100ft including the 180ft Herreshoff schooner Elena, 139ft Frers ketch Rebecca,130ft J Class Rainbow and last year’s winner of Concours D’Elegance 105ft Whitehawk. Sporting 12,500 sq ft of sail, the 180ft sail-training Tall Ship Picton Castle will be present. We will also host some interesting, very old classic yachts such as the recently locally restored 41ft SeeFalke 11 built in 1936 to train German officers in seamanship, and 1946 Olin Stephens design 56ft Argyll. Added to our exciting social program this year is a cooking cup, cocktail competition and the prize-giving event on the Monday evening in the dockyard with a live band.
