INTRODUCING ‘MOMENTS IN NATURE’
Thursday 28th January 2010

EAG and the MOMENT is CAPTURED Begin Series of Nature/Photography Hikes
Local environmental group joins forces with photographer for combined nature walks and photo ops documenting Antigua's flora and fauna.

The Environmental Awareness Group (EAG), in conjunction with the MOMENT is CAPTURED photography is mounting a new monthly hiking tour around Antigua to combine two closely-related endeavours; nature and photography. The purpose of the hike is four-fold; to bring much needed attention to Antigua's diverse and often fragile ecology, to encourage physical activity among all residents and visitors, to bring more exposure to the work of the EAG, and to provide an opportunity for budding and professional photographers to explore their cameras in a natural environment.  The invitation is open to amateurs and professionals.  Individuals are responsible for providing their own cameras, preferably DSLR (manually adjustable), however, cameras are not absolutely essential since the event is first and foremost a nature hike.

The inaugural nature walk will start off from Soldier Point, at the parking lot at Half Moon Bay.  Soldier Point is not considered a challenging hike, however, there is a steep rocky section along the route to consider.  It is for this reason that all hikers should bring with them good running shoes, along with lots of water, sunscreen and a hat.

Locations for all subsequent hikes, planned for the last Sunday of every month (with the exception of Jul, Oct, & Dec), will be announced closer to the dates:  Jan 31, Feb 28, Mar 28, Apr 25, May 30, Jun 27, Aug 29, Sep 26, and Nov 28. Each hike commences at 7:30 a.m. and lasts approximately three hours. Information on these monthly excursions is available on the websites eagantigua.org, 365antigua.com and theMOMENTisCAPTURED.com.

This Sunday’s hike is a mere EC $20. Thereafter the cost is US15, EC40 per person, per hike. All proceeds go to the Environmental Awareness Group. Previous hiking experience is not necessary.
Robby Breadner is a Canadian-born, Antigua-based photographer and designer with over 20 years’ experience in photography, web and graphic design, areas in which his photography is regularly incorporated.  His works have appeared in local and international print and web media, educational textbooks and literary works.
