WE CARE FOR THE CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
In December, 1996, a group of concerned individuals interested in providing a home for Denise Howell and some other children with special needs met and, as a result of that meeting, the idea for the Amazing Grace Project was born. The intention of the project is to care for homeless children with special needs, who were currently residing at the Holberton Hospital and the Fiennes Institute – a home usually for destitute citizens.
Today the home is permanent residence to 7 children, provides day care for up to 3 other children, and with the help of a full time paediatrician offers free care to a further 150 disabled children in the community.
The children are cared for by 4 house parents who provide round the clock care and organize trips to the beach and local destinations when possible.
