NOTICE: DREDGING PROGRESS
Friday 23rd August 2013

Update to the Original Dredging Notice Below:

As you were previously advised the dredging barge has now reached the narrowest part of the Jolly Harbour channel.  We understand this presents a challenge to boats coming and going from Jolly Harbour and also makes it very difficult for the barge operator to continue with progress safely unless traffic is regulated.

Non-keel boats with a draft of less than 5ft will be able to pass to the South of the barge safely.  However, it is essential that you take extreme caution and travel at 5 knots or less.  Be aware that stabilizing cables for the barge are in place and extend outwards from the barge under the water.

It is not recommended for boats with a keel or draft of more than 5 feet to attempt to pass the channel without contacting the marina or patrol boat on VHF Channel 68 first.

We ask for your full co-operation during this process which we expect to be complete by September 14, 2013.  Safety is our primary concern during this time.

Please be aware of that the hours of operation are Monday – Saturday 8am – 5pm.

We ask for your patience and that you be guided by the patrol boat accordingly. Every effort will be made to keep any delays in and out of the channel to an absolute minimum.

While the barge is not in operation it will be stationary in a position that will allow vessels to pass   through the channel safely.  IF PASSING THROUGH THE CHANNEL IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU KEEP SOUTH OF THE DREDGING BARGE AND PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

Should you have any concerns regarding this matter, please contact Jo Lucas, at jo@jhmarina.com; 462-6041/6042; 464-6959 or VHF68.

Once again we do apologize for any inconvenience but hope that we can all benefit from the overall outcome of this project being completed.

Dredging Notice #1:

Please be advised that the dredging barge has now reached the narrowest part of the Jolly Harbour Channel. Unless traffic is properly regulated, this may present a challenge to boats coming into and leaving Jolly Harbour, as well as make it extremely difficult for the barge operator to safely continue work.  We anticipate this process should be complete within 15 days if uninterrupted and are requesting your full cooperation at this time.

As safety is our primary concern during this time, please be aware that the hours of operation are Monday – Saturday 8am – 5pm.

The barge and/or Marina staff will play an integral role in assisting boats safely navigate the channel. Please assist these individuals by following instructions regarding the best route to take and waiting until they indicate it is safe to do so.  Every effort will be made to keep delays in and out of the channel to an absolute minimum.

While the barge is not in operation it will be stationary in a position that will allow vessels to navigate safely.

WHILE PASSING THROUGH THE CHANNEL, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU KEEP SOUTH OF THE DREDGING BARGE AND PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

Should you have any concerns regarding this matter, please contact Jo Lucas, General Manager, Eastern Caribbean Marina & Boatyard Ltd. at, Email: jo@jhmarina.com; 462-6041/6042; 464-6959 or VHF68.
