CUBA LIBRE STARTING WELL! Friday 7th March 2014
St Maarten Heineken Regatta 2014 update from Miramar Sailing
We are delighted to report that Cuba Libre won 3rd place in The Gill Commodore's Cup yesterday. The Commodores cup is a great day of races for those flying spinnakers. Weather conditions were ideal with blue skies and 15-18 knot east-southeast breeze along the southern shores of St. Maarten. Skipper Johannes and his crew were more than happy with the first days racing, which is considered a warm-up and practice day for the three-day main event.
The St Maarten Heineken Regatta website reported "With the solid wind pressure kicking up a bouncy seaway, racing conditions were decidedly sporty and there was a wide range of skill and prowess displayed across the racecourse. For some crews, especially those shaking off the rust after a season's break from racing, spinnaker sets and douses were spectacular adventures."
