MIRAMAR SAILING GOES RACING AGAIN!
Wednesday 14th August 2013

Miramar Sailing goes racing again!  Alongside our Beneteau First 42 “Augustine”, we are now delighted to announce the latest addition to our racing fleet is a Vo60 called “Cuba Libre”.

“Cuba Libre” is one of the legendary Volvo Ocean 60 transatlantic race yachts. She is a Bruce Farr design and CSA rated at 1.158 in Racing Class. She has a tremendous pedigree.

In 1999, racing under the guise of “Nokia” she won the Sydney – Hobart race in a record breaking time of 1 day, 19 hours, 48 minutes and 2 seconds. The previous Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race record of 2 days, 14 hours, 7 minutes, 10 seconds had been set by Morning Glory in 1996. “Nokia’s” new record was to stand until 2005 when Wild Oats XI beat it by 1 hour, 8 minutes.

"Cuba Libre"  races with a maximum crew of 18, and a minimum crew of 8, including the skipper, with accommodation on board for 12. Additional crew can be accommodated ashore.

Absent from the Caribbean scene for a while, she is heading back for 2013/14 and is raring to go, we will be campaigning "Cuba Libre" in the most prestigious events of the Caribbean Regatta Circuit including:

2013 - Triskell Cup,  Nelson's Pursuit Race

2014 - Grenada Sailing Week, Jolly Harbour Valentines Regatta, RORC Caribbean 600, St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, Virgin Islands (St. Thomas Rolex + BVI Spring), Les Voiles de St Barth, Antigua Sailing Week, Triskell Tour.

Regatta Package options include:

Berth Charter: Single crew places are only available once the minimum crew is booked. A “reserve list” will be maintained for interested individuals.

Delivery Crew: Help us deliver our yachts to and from events, for some exciting experience and mile building passages. Delivery Crew can be combined with our Race Crew packages. Note: This is not relevant to Antigua regattas.

The 2013/2014 Campaign is going to be very competitive and a lot of fun!  Let's go racing!
