ZEMI FEATURES RECYCLED ART
Tuesday 29th April 2014

Stephen Murphy, owner and artist in residence at Zemi Gallery in Redcliffe Quay, has always been keen on the environment and using recycled materials to create beautiful objects. His newest effort is Conch Fish, a line of decorative objects.

The fanciful, abstract fish in various sizes are created from wood, and then coated with broken conch shells, whole shells or sea glass to create a one-of-a-kind Antiguan collectable.

Recently, Stephen also added a collection of jewelry created from recycled vinyl records and copper rings. The vinyl bracelets have dramatic metallic finishes, and the copper pins are created by wrapping the metal around stones or swirling them into unique shapes.

All are currently available at the gallery, which is open from 10 am to 6 pm weekdays.
