The Antigua/Barbuda Volleyball Association has just ended a very successful Five Day FIVB Course for Young Players.
The Course which ran from July 9—13, 2012, at the YMCA Indoor Gym was conducted by Dan Leiu Girleun of Romania. Girleun was ably assisted by Rosely Lewis and Henry Matthew, two coaches in the Ministry of Sports.
About 40 young talented girls and boys from the Schools’ Volleyball Program participated in the drills, exercises and games. From all indication, the young players showed great improvement in a short space of time.
It was good preparation for the girls who will be partici-pating in the NORCECA U-17 Inter-continental Qualifica-tion Tournament in Nicaragua, August 17 –23, 2012. The team will be accompanied by Coaches, Rosely Lewis and Shauna Isaac.
According to a member of the ABVA, there has been a tremendous improvement in the Sport of Volleyball in Antigua, not only the skills, but the participation level, especially by the youth.
