UNDER 14 GIRLS WINS DOUBLESFriday 3rd August 2012
Success came for the (NOC sponsored) team Antigua & Barbuda yesterday (Thurs 2nd Aug) as 75% of our team won their matches. As the competition winds down and the final positions are being determined team Antigua & Barbuda continues to move forward.
After a tough loss on Wednesday and missing out on the 17th position in a draw of 48 competitors Shakir Elvin went on to defeat Joel Lutchman of Suriname 4-2, 4-1 securing a 19th Position in the boys competition; Congrats Shakir a job well done.
Cordell Williams jr continues to move forward in the boys U14 consolation round, yesterday Williams defeated Mahir Wagh of Bermuda in three sets 4-2, 4-5(5), 10-3. As Williams continues he will play his final competition round today against Shivar Ramkalup (Sur).
Success also came for Jessica Isaac as she played her final round of the girls U14 consolation
Competition; Isaac defeated Jevone Davidson of Trinidad 5-3, 5-3.
With success comes the agony of defeat. And this was felt both by Justice Christopher and
D’Jeri Raymond today. Christopher was ousted today by Joshio Loor 4-0, 4-0 in what was his final matchof the competition.
Raymond too fell short of taking down Sophia Chang of El Salvador –Raymond Lost in three sets 4-2, 0-4, 7-10. Raymond continues to fight for a position in the main draw competition and will come up today against Romi De Jong of Suriname in her final match of this Competition.
The girls Under 14 doubles consolation competition brought success for team Antigua & Barbuda
As they defeated the Guatemalan team of Ninah Cohen and Rut Galindo 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 Great going Guys, in a competition of this level winning is a great success.
Final positions in both the Main draw Competition and consolation competition will be announced at the closing ceremony.
