DAY 2 COCO COLA LCA ITF JR. TOURNAMENT Tuesday 7th August 2012
On the eve of the Coco Cola LCA ITF Jr Tournament opening ceremony which took place yesterday (6th Aug, 2012) the St. Lucia's National Tennis Centre Jessica Isaac was successful in her bid for a main draw spot in the girls under 14 competitions.
This tournament drew 120 athletes from 22 countries which includes The United States, Suriname, Greneda, Canada, Brasil, Antigua & Barbuda, Great Britain, Venezula, Mexico, Trinidad, Australia, Sweden, Dominican Republic, Aruba, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Bahamas, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador and host country St. Lucia.
In her final round robin qualifying match Jessica Isaac defeated Megan Williamsm of St. Lucia in straight sets 4-2, 4-0; This final round robin win positioned Isaac as the #2 seed going into the girls under 14 main draw.
Shakir Elvin fell short of securing a spot in the boys under 18 main draw after his loss to Gianlucca Massa of the United states 6-0, 6-1. Cordell William jr also suffered a loss today against Taquel Lewis of St. Lucia 4-1, 4-0;
Williams jr's loss today crumbled his chances of making it to the main draw. Williams jr. will play the boys u14 consolation draw as the #1 seed. Justice Christopher too will play the boys consolation draw as the official start of the tournament commences tomorrow 7 th August, 2012.
Jody Maginley the boys U18 #8 seed will meet the qualifier Gianlucca Massa of the USA and D'Jeri Raymond will come up against Bahamian Danielle Thompson in the girls U18 competition .
