NATURE ISLAND
Barbuda is today a hidden jewel in the Caribbean which without much doubt is about to be “discovered”. On the island of Barbuda you will see what the rest of the island chain used to be like.
It’s a real Robinson Crusoe island where fishing is still the main way to make a living for the local inhabitants. There are three big fancy beach hotels on the South side with nothing at all on the East or West coast. The only other place to stay on the beach in Barbuda at this time is at North Beach Cottages.
North Beach Cottages in Barbuda is one of the few vacation places of its kind left in the Caribbean. Several small cottages are situated around the main pavilion and kitchen in what can only be described as the ultimate getaway spot. There are no man made structures within walking distance of the hotel with only crystal clear and azure waters caressing brilliant sandy beaches in any direction.
A very large and wonderful mangrove system starts nearby within kayaking distance and protects the entrance of one of the Caribbean’s largest lagoons and home to its famous Magnificent Frigate Bird Sanctuary.
A massive barrier reef also starts just outside the North Beach Cottages and the snorkeling is excellent. Fly fishing and all other forms of light tackle sport fishing are better here than anywhere in the region. Nature and all its glory surrounds the area, and if getting away from it all and being as close to nature as possible is something you are after then you must consider a stay here.
