TWO SHOPS - ONE GREAT LOCATION
Situated on Lower St. Mary’s Street, in a historic white wooden building that has been a part of the St. John's landscape for well over a hundred years, these sister businesses provide a quiet home away from home atmosphere where individuals can sit, read, sip a cup of coffee or simply enjoy the space.
The Best of Books is a general bookshop, with the widest variety of books in the Eastern Caribbean.
Novels line the walls of the main showroom while romance readers have their own smaller back room chamber where they can get lost in the world of love and desire. Children’s books occupy much of the floor space on the ground floor, along with health, sexuality, travel, Caribbean titles and other special interest titles.
But some readers say that upstairs is the place to be - with cookbooks, classics, religious and inspirational books, reference, school texts and a mini Spanish bookshop “Libreria Espanola". There are also tables, chairs, and computers that can be used for a small fee. The upper reading room is available for writer's clubs or reading clubs or by people who wish to conduct writing workshops or foreign language classes.
Best of Books is the authorized text book representative for Nelson Thornes and Macmillan Caribbean for Antigua/Barbuda and Montserrat.
Made In Antigua, is just what the name suggests – a store that sells only things that have been locally made. Unique Antiguan Art, prints, woodwork, pepper sauce, jams and jellies, shell craft and many other exceptional pieces of Antiguan craftsmanship.
These products make wonderful authentic Antiguan souvenirs for the visitor and wonderful gifts for the local person who appreciates those things which make the twin island state of Antigua and Barbuda truly unique.
