POWA
was established in January 1997 as a
networking and resource group for professional and executive
women – independent thinkers, courageous enough to speak out on
issues affecting our society. There were over 100 women at the
first lunch meeting in January 1997. The first President was
Valerie Jeffery. |

Aims and
Objectives
-
To facilitate
personal and professional development of members and the wider
community in Antigua & Barbuda;

To foster
entrepreneurial spirit, business acumen and leadership
capabilities among women in Antigua & Barbuda;

To assist in the
education of our nation’s youth;
-
To lobby for
gender sensitive legislation and national policies;
-
To lobby for
improved healthcare and other social services;
-
To lobby for the
inclusion of women at the highest levels of policy formation
and decision-making in both the private and public sectors.

To achieve
our objectives we hold fund raising events throughout the year –

Meetings are now held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Persons
