Situated on Lower St. Mary’s Street, in a historic white wooden building that has been a part of the St. John's landscape for well over a hundred years, these sister businesses provide a quiet home away from home atmosphere where individuals can sit, read, sip a cup of coffee or simply enjoy the space.
The Best of Books is a general bookshop, with the widest variety of books in the Eastern Caribbean.

Novels line the walls of the main showroom while romance readers have their own smaller back room chamber where they can get lost in the world of love and desire.  Children’s books occupy much of the floor space on the ground floor, along with health, sexuality, travel, Caribbean titles and other special interest titles.

But some readers say that upstairs is the place to be ~ with cookbooks, classics, religious and inspirational books, reference, school texts and a mini Spanish bookshop “Libreria Espanola". There are also tables, chairs, and computers that can be used for a small fee. The upper reading room is available for writer's clubs or reading clubs or by people who wish to conduct writing workshops or foreign language classes.
