A very common tree indeed in Antigua, mainly because it is not used for charcoal burning, or eaten by goats. The wood is not used as timber as it is too soft and unworkable. It has been used, however, as net floats, box wood, and as a land crab purge also as a water settler in the buckets of water-carriers.
