Girl Guides Association Receives Birthday Gifts
Local providers of traditional and next generation business
telecommunications solutions, made presentations of cellular phones and a
landline telephone instrument to the Girl Guides of Antigua & Barbuda. The Girl
Guides Association of Antigua & Barbuda, a non-profit organization dedicated to
providing
opportunities for enabling girls and young women of Antigua and
Barbuda to reach their fullest potential as responsible, productive citizens
contributing to national, regional and worldwide development,
was selected because of its distinctive 75
years of community outreach and a vital need for more efficient communications
to support its ongoing success. Digicel, which donated a new cellular phone and
service to the Girl Guides Association, established this community outreach as a
way to resolve this charitable organization having access to the world through
the latest communication technologies. APUA PCS and Cable & Wireless have
contributed a new cellular phone and a landline telephone instrument
respectively supporting the efforts to allow the non-profit organization to have
access to current technology equipment while continuing their valuable community
service work. The cellular phone donated by APUA PCS was presented to the 19th
Antigua Girl Guides Unit of the Pigott’s Community while, with foresight, the
landline telephone instrument from Cable & Wireless was presented to The Girl
Guides Association to be installed at the Girl Guides Headquarters, Deanery
Lane.
One
of the top priorities on our movement’s wish list, especially on the occasion of
our 75th Anniversary, was a phone contact that could be included on
letterheads and other Girl Guides communiqué offering a higher level of
efficiency with today’s technologies. With the cellular phone donations we would
be able to provide more immediate and efficient updates, information and
service, and improve the flow of communication within the Association, as well
as with our parent organization and donors, and enhance our community image. We
are extremely pleased Digicel, APUA and Cable & Wireless assisted us in
fulfilling one of our wishes.
Often nonprofit organizations are not able to allot budget
dollars for equipment purchases and it helps to have companies such as Digicel,
APUA PCS and Cable & Wireless that are heavily involved in the local community,
and who are glad to be able to help us improve our operations. We are especially
pleased with our partnership with the three companies. The Girl Guides
Association can now be contacted at 7-2B Responsible
